Ideas!

GENETIC MAKE UP OF PRINT TO BE!

Above are snapshots of my process path i had taken to create my four colour print.I was looking at some late 70s wallpaper and prints, which influenced me to create the foreground. Since i was looking at invisible language, i was trying to portray different ways of portraying this, so I started researching hieroglyphs and i came across the rosetta stone, inscribed symbols embedded into the stone. I became captivated with this idea of the stone as a way of sustainability through time, holding history and stories. Which i then used the pen tool to trace the shape and form of the stone. And then upped the stroke to about 14pt-20pt, allowing a more bold form. Placing these on top clouds opposite one another as though they are human beings talking and sharing in the space between.

Experiments and ideas

EXPERIMENTS AND IDEAS

I was experimenting with registering the screens down on paper, I noticed later that there were some left over marks from my previous screen imprinted on. Leaving the blue and barely visible traces of pink squares embedded together with the faded purple dots.

The blue txt was printed first then overprinted with the pink squares, followed through with the print above with a touch of yellow and black. I guess i was trying to create an illusion of sorts where the letters would seem as if it was disappearing into the void.

This one I particularly like as it portrayed my ideas of the invisible, a black foreground mixed with dark blues and purples to give my following image a distinct opportunity to reveal itself through light. This second screen was flooded with a pure black a semi gloss, for it to be visible through light.

Here I was experimenting around with colour, mixing transparent inks and solid coloured inks for the images to come in and out of the black foreground. I found myself at a stand still when printing this image as it did not come out as i hoped it would. My registration is quite off due to my lack of proper technique.

This image above is the results of many experiments, which i find it as one of my strongest prints. The combination of colours here is very effective, the metallic bluish grey printed over the black reinforces the image, followed up with the pink squares, illuminates it.

Thoughts!

....What sort of invisible language am I trying to reveal? Composition? metaphors? dreams? internal conversations? Now were do i look to gather my scattered ideas?...

Rosetta stone

Egyptian Hieroglyph

the idea of encrypted messages? screen printed onto transparent paper? that can only be seen by a certain angle or by different sources of light? Am i to be specific with the symbols i use to incorporate what i'm trying to portray?

THOUGHTS AND IDEAS OF DEVELOPMENT

IDEAS FLOATING IN MY HEAD!

These are a few experiments i was working on, the idea was to use different coloured layers to bring forth the encrypted text. Adding tinted coloured layers, transparent and colours that complemented one another, relating to my ideas of invisible language and conversations we engage with.

THE LITTLE FRIENDS OF PRINT MAKING

Thoughts: I connected with the above images, as the colour coordination pulled me in. For example image 4, how the 3 different layered colours of greens compliment each other. And lastly the black printed over to pull the image together.

Gif (class task complete)

Gif trial

The process of making a 'gif' was quite tricky one at first. It was a class task set out for each student to create and complete one gif. Above is the results of my first ever gif I made on 'photoshop'.

Experiments

Experiments
Working with the ideas of invisible language and conversations. I guess i'm looking for a signature form to translate these unseen conversations we engage with everyday. 3D objects was floating around in my head, though I'm still unsure how to incorporate these.

Process

Pen tool

Select pen tool, to create lines.

Create two lines opposite from each other.

Select 'Object' location on the top tabs with file, edit etc. Scroll down to 'Blend' and click on blend options.

This little black box will open up, select 'Specified steps' then click ok. This will allow the lines to be duplicated accordingly.

This gave me the choice to create as much lines as I wanted, simply punching in a number, then clicking on ok.

Once the first steps has been completed, I return back to 'Object'+'Blend='Make'. Below is the results, I could alter the shape by selecting the anchors (small blue squares) as well.
